Say Quilmes in Argentina, then you mean "beer." The name has been synonymous to the beverage, and this could be traced way back to 1888 when the Quilmes brewery was founded. It has since then contributed to the development of what is known as the Quilmes zone in Buenos Aires.
Quilmes, an ancient Indian name, was actually first brewed in 1890. It started as a family business with strict focus on quality, distribution and communication with clients and customers.
Quilmes is the proud sponsor of soccer, a great Argentinian passion. With Quilmes as its leading domestic beer, Argentina started exporting its favorite beer in the US and European markets in 1998. Global Village Imports is proud to be a distributor of this heritage beer from Argentina.

Quilmes has been a common staple in Argentinian gatherings where people chat about controversial topics, which are soccer, politics and women.
Precursor to the got milk campaign when celebrities got their moustache whitened with milk, Quilmes in the '70s had its own version. Famous actors and actresses appeared on commercials with their noses wet with Quilmes beer froth.
In the 1940's the phenomenon of "neighborhood's club" allowed young people to go tango dancing during the weekends or have a beer. It was not clear if tango got any better after a swig of beer.
According to its corporate web site, the production of Quilmes beer equals to three and a half turns around the planet Earth.
